Presentation from Introduction to CiviCRM

hrodrig's picture

Attached are the files used by Andrew Hunt for his Introduction to CiviCRM at our January UMD Drupal Users Group meeting. Both files are SVG files that allow you to zoom through the presentation, similar to Prezi. Open the files with a web browser such as Firefox or Safari, NOT Adobe Illustrator.

Andrew's presentation was very informative and got me thinking about how offices involved in scholarships, grants, alumni communications/donations, event planning, and any other department that has the need to track many users and any ongoing interactions would benefit from exploring CiviCRM.

If you have more questions about CiviCRM or want to get started on your own project, Andrew has given me his contact information to distribute:

Message from Rob

Rob Goodwin from the iSchool wrote me an email which I thought I'd share with the group:

I’ve installed CiviCRM and am suddenly hit with the vast task of configuration that needs to be at the very start. I’m a little overwhelmed.

CiviCRM seems like a great solution for managing/tracking students from their initial application through to alumni status. That was my plan anyway. But wow, this is a super complex program. Not sure where to begin. If I get anywhere with it I’ll report back.

The free online books are a great start

Check the FLOSS books which are available at:

http://book.civicrm.org/

The user guide is a good way to figure out what parts of Civi you should start with and what may be applicable for your use
